Patronus

“The patronus is a kind of positive force, a projection of the very things that the dementor feeds upon – hope, happiness, the desire to survive.”

Each patronus is unique to the wizard/witch who conjures it, conjuring a patronus in itself is a highly advanced piece of magic way ahead of what was taught or tested at Hogwarts.

A Patronus is a physical manifestation of a person’s source of happiness. The thing that makes this spell even more captivating is that the magic of the charm can easily defend you from dementors; whose presence in themselves removes luminosity and warmth from the surroundings.

Other than that, Patronus are also widely used for spreading information or as a messenger. To conjure a Patronus, one must concentrate with all their might, on a single, very happy memory with the incantation expecto patronum.

An easier form of Patronus to conjure is a non-corporeal Patronus which is slightly less effective than a full-fledged or corporeal Patronus. It appears as a thin wisp of silver and hovers like mist. Meanwhile, a corporeal Patronus forms a clearly defined shape of an animal.

The patronus charm has been used many times in the story Harry Potter and has proved to be the most useful yet the most beautiful and elegant charm. Imagine, if J K Rolling had not invented patronus charm there could have been disastrous consequences. In 'Harry Potter and the deathly hallows’ when the ministry of magic had fallen, Kingsley Shacklebolt sent his patronus to the wedding to inform about the minister of magic’s death and the arrival of death eaters at the wedding. Harry could have died that night if the patronus wasn’t sent.

One could find unknown things about themselves through their patronus which have infinite uses. It could give them a chance at  self-reflection, personal growth and development. Hence, the awe received by the patronus charm is well deserving.
